England international Drinkwater appeared to swing his elbow into Valon Behrami's face during the second half of Saturday's game at Vicarage Road and now faces a three-match ban.

Referee Neil Swarbrick took no action at the time of the incident, but a video review panel of former elite referees decided it was a sending-off offence.

Drinkwater, 26, has until 1800 GMT on Wednesday to respond to the charge.

A three-game ban would rule him out of Leicester's Premier League games against Middlesbrough, Sunderland and Manchester City.
