Bayern Munich dismiss Carlo Ancelotti as manager

Bayern Munich sack Carlo Ancelotti after losing to Paris Saint Germain.

The decision comes after a poor run of form which also saw the club lose to Paris Saint German by 3-0 in the UEFA Champions League.

A board meeting after the defeat at the French capital saw both parties end their partnership.

The CEO of Bayern Munich said that the decision to fire the 58-year-old manager was a professional decision for the good of the German club.

Carlo Ancelotti succeeded Spanish manager Pep Guardiola after he moved on to Manchester City in 2016.

Ancelotti in the 2017/2018 season currently lie 3rd in the German Bundesliga behind Borussia Dortmund and Hoffenheim.

Bayern Munich release a statement on the club’s website to that effect writing:

“FC Bayern Munich have parted company with head coach Carlo Ancelotti (58) as a result of internal discussions following the 3-0 defeat in the Champions’ League group stage match at Paris Saint-Germain."

The official website then went ahead to give the comment of CEO Karl-Heinz Rumminnige as to the reasons for the seasoned manager’s dismissal

"Our team’s performances since the start of the season have not met our expectations. The match in Paris clearly showed we had to take immediate action. Hasan Salihamidžić and I met Carlo today for full and frank discussions where we informed him of our decision."

Assistant manager Willy Sagnol takes over as manager and will take the team to face Hertha Berlin at the Olympiastadion in Berlin.
