Nyantakyi apologizes to Ghanaians for Black Stars draw against Congo

Ghana are in danger of not qualifying for the 2018 FIFA World Cup, after a 1-1 draw against Congo on Friday

Ghana were held to a one all draw in Kumasi in the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers to seemingly dash our hopes of a fourth consecutive appearance at the Mundial.

The Black Stars following the disappointing home performance were booed by the vociferous Kumasi fans who trooped to watch the team.

Nyantakyi, has however, urged Ghanaians not to abandon the team in this trying time, since it is still not over.

“It’s very unfortunate but let me apologise for the team’s performance and ask Ghanaians not to abandon or neglect the team. Let’s keep praying for the team till the end of the competition and let’s see what ultimately comes out,” he told Accra based Class FM.

The member of the FIFA Executive Council also admitted the team has a slim chance of making it to Russia 2018.

“We have a slim chance [of making it] but realistically our chance diminished right after the match because we failed to take advantage of the opportunity and secure the three maximum points, but we still have to take part to the end and see what awaits us so we pray for [the best] but our destiny is definitely not in our hands,” he added.

Ghana will take on Congo in Brazzaville on Tuesday in the reverse fixture of the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
