Black Stars probable XI to face the Yankees

Kwesi Appiah will make about five changes to the team that played against Mexico on Wednesday.

The Black Stars came under criticisms for losing 0-1 against a second-string Mexican national team, despite Kwesi Appiah also giving some new faces the opportunity to justify why he handed them call-ups.

Against the United States of America Ghana will definitely parade a side that will be stronger than the ones used against Mexico.

In post will be Richard Ofori, who is now becoming Kwesi Appiahs trusted shot-stopper.

Rashid Sumaila who came on against Mexico and was used as a right back is likely to start from that position in the absence of Harrison Afful who has been recalled by his team Columbus Crew for a league game on Saturday.

Coach Appiah will stick to Lumor Agbenyenu in the left full back position after excelling against Mexico.

The central defence pair will be John Boye and Jerry Akaminko in the absence of Jonathan Mensah who has also joined his club Columbus crew.

In defensive midfield Mohammed Abu is likely to replace Isaac Sackey who was a pale shadow of himself when he featured against Mexico in his debut Black Stars game.

Kwesi Appiah will keep faith in Ebenezer Ofori, who has now cemented his place in the Black Stars midfield following consistent good display- against Ethiopia and Mexico.

The Black Stars will use the same wingers that played against Mexico- Thomas Agyapong and Frank Acheampong.

In Attack Kwesi Appiah is might pair Asamoah Gyan with David Accam. The two strikers started the Mexico game from the bench.

Asamoah Gyan is Ghana’s most prolific goal scorer even at the twilight of his career and going into a game of this magnitude, he would be needed to use his experience to cause a major scare in the goal area of the Yankees of US.

David Accam is one of Ghana’s best performer abroad, but he is yet to translate the club form into national team football, having been struggling to find his feat any time he gets the opportunity to feature for the Black Stars. However, Kwesi Appiah would want to give him an opportunity to shine to give him a lot of options in attack especially playing in the US, where he plies his trade.
