According to Danish media outlet Ekstra Bladet, Marseille are in pole position to sign Black Stars defender, Daniel Amartey who can also play in defensive midfield.

Reports suggest Amartey who is currently on the books of Danish giants, FC Copenhagen and his representatives have arrived in Marseille with the player set to undergo medical before putting pen to paper with tomorrow's transfer deadline looming.

It means English Premier League side, Leicester City are set to lose out on their target after making enquiries about the player all summer. In fact, a representative from Leicester was in Denmark last week in an attempt to close a £5.5m deal, but Marseille stepped in to also also open negotiations with Copenhagen for the player.

Marseille reportedly have offered to close the deal for around €6m, which could rise as they look to lure the player to the Stade Velodrome.

FC Copenhagen were reluctant to lose Amartey, but they now know they can't turn down a big-money offer for the player after failing to qualify for the Europa League group stages.
