Idris took selfies with most of his favourite football stars like Cristiano Ronaldo, Messi, Neymar, Olivier Giroud, just to mention but a few.
For the first time in the history of the most glamourous FIFA awards, fans were permitted to witness the ceremony in person and Elba who was the MC on the night engaged the fans by allowing them to cheer up the awardees from time to time.

In the awards Cristiano Ronaldo beat off competition from Lionel Messi and Neymar to win the FIFA Footballer of the Year for 2017.
Idris Elba was born to a Liberian father and a Ghanaian mother and he even visited Ghana in 2015. He has an album with famous Ghanaian hiplife musician Reggie Rockstone.
