Maxwell Konadu thanks Ghanaians for the semifinal victory

Coach Maxwell Konadu was attributes the semi final victory over Niger to the massive attendance from the Ghanaian fans

The Black Stars B head coach Maxwell Konadu has given credit to the fans who came out in their numbers to support the team for his side’s 2-0 victory over Niger in the 2017 WAFU Cup of Nations.

The goals came in from strikers Kwame Kizito and Stephen Sarfo to book a place in the final with the West African rivals Nigeria.

Speaking to the media after the game Coach Maxwell Konadu was ever grateful to the fans for making to the stadium in numbers. “Once again I will like to thank the general public and supporters for making it into the stadium today.

“Once again they have given us the most important thing needed and that was their support. We are expecting them to make it to the stadium once more for the final.”

Coach Konadu went on to speak about how the game went for the Black Stars B team.

“It was a tactical game and the side needed more patience. We started the buildup gradually and we were sure that we were going to make it but our opponents came back strongly.”

The Black Stars B came through a torrid preliminary stage after beating The Gambia in a difficult time which saw Ghana sail through kind courtesy an injury time penalty.

The story has been rather amazing since the side got into the group stages of the WAFU tournament.  Konadu gave his view on the side’s performance in the competition so far “We have done that far and the players have done so well for themselves, their families and Ghana. We started slowly in the tournament but they keep improving match after match.”

Konadu also spoke on his side’s chances in the final against Nigeria.

“We going to play a team that has beaten us already. Like I said we had issues with injuries and we just hope that all our players will be fit this time around so that we witness a different ball game altogether.”

Ghana will play Nigeria on Sunday, the 24th of September 2017 in the finals at the Cape Coast Stadium.
