Two former Ghana champions relegated to third-tier

Sekondi Eleven Wise and Okwawu United have been relegated to the division two of Ghana league

Eleven Wise placed last on the log sheet of zone Two of the National Division One League, while Okwawu United finished 14 in the zone Three of the Ghanaian second tier league to suffer relegation.

The ‘West Show Boys’, won the Ghanaian topflight league in the 1961-62 season, becoming the third club after Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko to win the league.

Okwawu United won their first major trophy (FA Cup) in 1986, few years after the formation of the club. The Soccer Mountaineers, despite their recent struggle in the Division One League even managed to reach the final of last year’s MTN FA Cup, but missed out on the ultimate glory to Bechem United.

It is really pathetic to see two former giants of the Ghana league go further down to the third tier.
