Bashir Hayford bemoans Ashanti Gold's loss against Hearts

"My boys played their hearts out but it was unfortunate they conceded two quick goals" - Bashir Hayford

The Miners have had a shaky start to the season and they needed to beat Hearts of Oak to re-affirm their desire of defending their league title. Ashanti Gold however got stunned by the Accra giants at the Len Clay Sports Stadium.

After the first half ended goalless, the away side started the second half strongly and within the space of nine minutes scored two goals through Cosmos Dauda. The Miners tried fighting back but it was too late as Awudu Nafiu’s goal couldn’t save their blushes.

“My boys played their hearts out but it was unfortunate they conceded two quick goals in the second half that made the difference.

“In football if you make a mistake, you are punished and if you don’t come out well you will be punished immediatel. That is exactly what happened and I think we are going to prepare very well for the next game,” Hayford said after the game.

Ashanti Gold next League game is against Dwarfs at Cape Coast Sports Stadium.
