Bashir Hayford reacts angrily to questions on Fatau Dauda

Bashir Hayford says the fact that Fatau Dauda is in the senior national team of Ghana does not mean he should be playing week in week out for Ghana Premier League champions Ashgold

Fatau Dauda, Ghana's senior national team goalkeeper is yet to play a single minute in the GPL since the start of the season on February 20.

The former Chippa United goalkeeper was on the bench on Sunday in AshGold's one-all draw against Sekondi Hasaacas at the Essipong sports stadium.

In a post-match press conference Pulse.com.gh reporter, Ishmael Quacoe asked the veteran trainer to explain the decision to drop Fatau Dauda for successive matches.

"I have 12 players who have not played a match and I don't give reasons to them because we are 30 and I have to select a few but he is in jersey, no comment.

Ishmael Quaicoe wanted to follow up with a question but the former Kotoko boss blurted out:

“I said no comment! We have 30 players and I train them and select who should play. He (Fatau Dauda) is in jersey and I have decided to play without him."

Bashir Hayford emplained that having a national goalkeeper in his ranks doesn't mean he should play him week in and out.

“A national team goalkeeper in your team doesn't mean he is the best. He is a good goalkeeper, we have another goalkeeper. When we went to Algeria he kept the post and when we returned another is in to keep for some time.

“Nobody has sidelined him; he has been in jersey all out. Are you not a potential journalist for CNN, have they called you?”
