Togbe Afede XIV, the Agbogbomefia of the Asogli State in the Volta Region was on Thursday elected as the new president of the National House of Chiefs.

He polled 25 votes while his competitors, Awulae Attibrukusu of Lower Axim in the Western Region, got 11, Okyehene Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin had 10 votes, and Nana Kobina Nketsia V, the Omanhen of Essikado Traditional Area, gathered 3 votes.
Togbe Afede XIV will succeed the Wulugu Naba Pugansoa, Naa Professor John S. Nabila, who has ended his term of office.
Togbe Afede XIV, who happens to be the board chairman of Accra Hearts of Oak is one of the few previleged people in football administration to assume such a topmost position in cheitancy.
A statement signed by club PRO Kwame Opare Addo read: ''The Board, Management and Staff of Accra Hearts of Oak Sporting Club Limited wishes to congratulate His Royal Highness, Togbe Afede XIV, the Agbogbomefia of the Asogli State on his election as the President of the National House of Chiefs.
