Hearts of Oak say NO to Don Bortey's third coming

Bernard Don Bortey will not be playing for Hearts of Oak next season.

Bortey joined the club’s pre-season with the hope of getting a contract but after weeks of training he has been asked to stay away from the team.

The 33 year-old speedster failed to make a meaningful impact during the Accra giants’ participation in the G6 Tourney – he played only two minutes and scored in the penalty shoot-out, though the club lost 3-4 to the eventual winners Aduana Stars.

“The club has refused to sign him despite training with them for weeks, so now he will be looking elsewhere,” a source close to the player told Pulse.com.gh.

“Bortey love Hearts of Oak very much but the club has decided not sign him. That wouldn’t be the end of the world for him, he has more years to play so definitely he will be joining a different club,” the source added.

Apart from Hearts of Oak, Bortey has played for clubs such as defunct Tema Ghapoha, Aduana Stars, Swedish side Ange IF and Panthers FC from Equatorial Guinea.
