Kotoko share honours with Inter Allies

The Harbour boys held the Porcupine Warriors to a 1-1 draw at the Tema Sports Stadium on Saturday.

Kotoko opened the scoring through Bennett Ofori in the 10th minute, before Frederick Yamoah snatched the equaliser for the hosts in the 50th minute.

Bennett Ofori, the former Berekum Chelsea winger scored from a rebound: Obed Owusu sent a long pass to Sarfo Gyamfi on the left. Goalie Osei Kwame couldn't handle Sarfo's first time shot and Bennett, who was hovering around the 18-yard box tapped home the match opener in the 10 minute.

The first half was a balanced game. Kotoko at a point could have doubled their lead but were denied by the woodwork and getting to the closing minutes of the game Inter Allies also hit the woodwork.

Sephen Nyarko would really curse his stars for missing a glorious opportunity that came his way in the first half.

Ropapa Mensah, the marksman for Inter Allies, who started the game from the bench was introduced into the game in the 2nd half and he changed the tempo of the game. The hosts secured the equaliser 5 minutes into the second half. Frederick Opoku Yamoah powerful drive from 30 yards beat Ernest Sowah in post to end their search for the equaliser.

Ahortor, who has scored three goals from direct free kick was also delight to watch in the game.

The game failed to produce any more goals, but Inter Allies were slightly dictating the pace of the game with Kotoko trying to catch them on the break. Kotoko came into the game in final 5 minutes and could have produced a late winner, but Eric Donkor struck a freekick just outside the 18-yard box into the human wall.

Kotoko missed the services of Dauda Mohammed, the club's leading top scorer, while Inter Allies were also without their instrumental midfielder, Evan Mensah. Both players are with the Black Satellites in Senegal for the African Youth Championship qualifying game against their West African neighbours.
