Kotoko take on New Edubiase

The Edubiase lads will be hosted by the Porcupine Warriors on Saturday.

It is a tricky encounter, despite Edubiase poor run of results, since they have a good record in Kumasi against Kotoko. They are tied with 2 wins each of their 6 engagements in Kumasi.

The 23 three times league champions who were lying bottom of the league ladder after match day 6 have leap frogged to the 8 position after back to back wins.

Kotoko edged Dreams FC in the mid-week to earn their first away league victory of the season at the dreaded Dawu Park which was the first home defeat for the debutants.

The Porcupine Warriors are unbeaten at home since, losing 0-3 to Berekum Chelsea last season on match day 22.

The change of technical direction by the management of the club, replacing head coach David Duncan with his assistant Michael Osei is yielding positive results, since Kotoko have won their last three games in all competitions.

Dauda Mohammed seems to have rediscovered his last season form, after scoring in his last two games for the Porcupine Warriors and the goal he fetched against Dreams FC is thus far the fastest of the season, coming under 30 seconds into the game.

New Edubiase

They are lying bottom of the 16-club league and are being scared by relegation, but the President of the club Abdul Salam Yakubu is optimistic things would turn around.

New Edubiase were poor away performers prior to match day 7 but they are the only side that have managed to earn a point at the Sogakope AstroTurf against WAFA which was their last away game. They had lost the last three visits of the season. The Edubiase lads last won away on match day 17 of the 2014-15 season against Kotoko.

The Edubiase lads are suffering from inexperience, because they lost the services of most of their already established players to other clubs: their top scorer last season Nuhu Alhassan and his twin brother Fuseini Nuhu who was instrumental in midfield were both transferred to Ashgold.

They have played in 12 league encounters and have won 3 apiece with 3 ending in draws.

New Edubiase United have a good record in Kumasi, having won 2, drawn 2 and lost 2 in their 6 away league games. Last season a 10-man New Edubiase United side edged Kotoko 2-1 in Kumasi on match day 17.
