Medeama announce the departure of Malik Akowuah

The Tarkwa lads have finally given their consent to let their midfielder join Accra Hearts of Oak

The 27-year-old signed a three-year contract with the Phobians, but Medeama issued a statement denying agreeing terms with the Accra giants over the player’s transfer and even threatened to take legal action.

However, after weeks of transfer tussle between the clubs, the Yellow and Mauves have sorted out their differences with the 2000 CAF Champions League winners and have agreed on a transfer fee.

"Medeama would like to announce midfielder Malik Akowuah today joined Hearts of Oak in a permanent transfer," Chief Executive James Essilfie said in a statement on Monday.

"The two clubs have reached an agreement to pave way for the midfielder to continue his career at Hearts.

"Akowuah joined the Yellow and Mauves from Ashantigold in 2012 and contributed significantly to the club’s surge in the Ghanaian top-flight.

"He won two FA Cup titles and helped the side tremendously in reaching the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup.

"We thank Akowuah for his efforts and wish him the very best of luck for the future."

Akowuah joined Medeama from Ashanti Gold.
