New Edubiase United down Asante Kotoko

The Edubiase lads lived up to the billing by edging the Porcupine Warriors 2-1

Kumasi Asante Kokoto suffered a 1-2 defeat at the hands of New Edubiase United at the Len Clay Sports Stadium in a thrilling encounter on Wednesday.

Tawfik Mohammed powered the hosts into the lead in the first half, but Asante Kotoko came into the second half strong and snatched the equaliser, after Emmanuel Gyamfi was brought down in the 18-yard box.

Sensattional skipper for Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Amos Frimpong stepped up for the kick and he drew level for the Kumasi giants.

However, New Edubiase United, who were bent on carrying the day, were also awarded a penalty in the late minute. The decision of the referee didn’t go well with Asante Kotoko, who challenged it to show their displeasure. After tempers were calmed down Nasir Lamine, former Ashanti Gold player put the ball beyond the reach of Ernest Sowah.

The win is the 5 for New Edubiase United, but will still remain at the bottom of the table, since the clubs lying above them also recorded good results.

Asante Kotoko are struggling to get things right in the second half, having recorded just a win in 7 league games, (L2, D4).

The win has enable New Edubiase to register a home and away victories over Asante Kotoko this season.
