The Ghanaian youngster found the back of the net when Sassuolo defeated Empoli to win Viareggio Cup
Claude Adjapong scored as Sassuolo edged Empoli 6-4 on penalties, after a 2-2 draw in regulation time to win the prestigious youth tournament Viareggio Cup.
Adjapong sent Sassuolo into the lead, while operating from the right back position, before Alessio Zini and Carlo Manicone scored twice to overturn the score line for Empoli.
Gianluca Scamacca, however, salvaged the situation for Sassuolo with a 90th minute goal to take the game into extra time.
Neroverdi emerged victorious 6-4 on penalties and won the trophy at stake with five draws from seven games, as all the knockout ties were won on penalty shoot-outs.
