Recap of Ghanaian Players Abroad for the weekend's football games

The Ghanaian player and his team who have been relegated from the English Premier League lost the home game against Southampton by four goals to two.

Jeffrey Schlupp started for Leicester City in the game against Andre Ayew’s Swansea City on Sunday as the Premier League leaders stretched their lead on the log to eight points.

Schlupp assisted a goal in the game as Leicester beat Swansea City by four goals to nil. Black Stars vice-captain Andre Ayew played the full game for Swansea City with Daniel Amartey not coming off the substitute bench for Leicester City.

In the English FA Cup, Dutch-born Ghanaian player Timothy Fosu-Mensah played for Manchester United against Everton in the semi-final at Wembley. Mensah conceded a penalty in the game which goalkeeper David De Gea saved with his Manchester United team scoring a late goal to book a final date with Crystal Palace with a 2-1 win.

Albert Adomah played the full game for Middlesbrough in the English Championship as they drew 0-0 to Ipswich Town.

In the Italian Serie A, Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu was in action for Udinese in their away game against Inter Milan as they were beaten by three goals to one.

Badu who returned from injury to play against Fiorentina also played the full game against Inter Milan.

Godfred Donsah was named on the bench as his Serie A team Bologna won their game against Genoa by two goals to nil.

Alfred Duncan and his Sassuolo team won their away game against Afriyie Acquah’s Torino in the Italian Serie A on Sunday. Duncan started and played in the full duration of the game with Afriyie Acquah playing 72 minutes for the home team Torino.

Kwadwo Asamoah played six minutes of regulation time for Juventus in their 2-1 win over Fiorentina away from home in the Italian Serie A. The Ghanaian player replaced former Manchester United player Paul Pogba in the 86th minute of the game.

In the Spanish La Liga, Benard Mensah was an unused substitute for Getafe in the home draw against Valencia. The two teams shared four goals as both clubs took a point in the 2-2 draw.

Thomas Partey and Christian Atsu were unused substitutes in the Spanish La Liga game between Atletico Madrid and Malaga. Atletico won the game by a goal to nil on home grounds.

Mubarak Wakaso came off the bench to score the last of four in La Palmas 4-0 home win against Espanyol. The player made a return on the pitch for the first time after aggravating his injury during the international break with the Black Stars.

In Germany, Daniel Opare played the full game for Augsburg in their 2-0 away game against Wolfsburg.

Abdul Majeed Waris missed FC Lorient’s trip to Saint-Etienne in the French Ligue 1 on Sunday. Lorient lost the game against Saint-Etienne by two goals to nil.

In Belgium, Frank Acheampong played the full game for Anderlecht who lost to Oostende in the Belgium Pro League play-off game. Oostende beat Anderlecht by four goals to two.

Ebenezer Assifuah played 65 minutes as his Sion team won by three goals to one against Lugano in the Swiss league.

In the Major League Soccer, Kwadwo Poku played 59 minutes for New York City FC against Philadelphia Union before being replaced by Thomas McNamara. Philadelphia Union won the game against New York City FC by two goals to nil.

Patrick Nyarko started for DC United in their MLS game against New England Revolution. The Ghanaian played 81 minutes as DC United won by three goals to nil.

Kofi Opare was an unused substitute for DC United in the game.

Harrison Afful played for his Columbus Crew game against Houston Dynamo. Columbus Crew won their game by a single goal to nil at home.

Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan was on target in the Chinese Super League on Sunday as his Shanghai SIPG team won by three goals to one against Changchun Yatai. Gyan came off the bench to score the last of three for coach Sven Goran Eriksson’s team.
