Jordan Spieth is a good chance of winning The Open Championship and taking another step towards the Grand Slam, according to Henrik Stenson.

Spieth, 21, has claimed back-to-back major wins, cruising to victory at the Masters before taking out the U.S. Open.

World number six Stenson, who has nine top-10 finishes in majors, said Spieth was the form player heading in.

"He's definitely a chance," the Swede told Perform.

"He's won the first two and you would say he's the hottest player on the planet this season. He's definitely got the chance to do it.

"It's going to be extremely tough. Winning one is tough and winning two in a row, or just winning two majors is a great achievement.

"But he's got a very mature head on young shoulders, he's got a golf game that doesn't really have too many weaknesses.

"Especially that type of golf, hitting fairways, hitting greens and being there with the putter willing to make birdies to save him when he needs to, it fits really well for major golf or any type of golf.

"So he's definitely a player we're going to hear and see a lot about in the future and there's a chance he can make it."

Stenson was tied for third at The Open in 2010 - but eight shots off winner Louis Oosthuizen - while he was T34 five years prior, in the past two played at St Andrews.

The 39-year-old said his preference was for there to be wind during the tournament.

"I think it's suited my game pretty well, since I finished third," Stenson said.

"It's the home of golf, I enjoyed playing it so much, it was really fun. I played in '05 and I played in '10, so I'm making my third British Open at St Andrews.

"I'm really looking forward to it, the crowds are great in big numbers, you have that real Open atmosphere, which comes with a bit of a twist at St Andrews, I think.

"It's an old golf course, I know it pretty well. You've got to avoid the bunkers off the tee and then you've got to be accurate with your second shots.

"Of course, the better you know the course, the more you can take advantage of that knowledge and knowing that little bit extra how it looks going to the pin.

"So, I would like it to blow a little bit, I think it's fairly easy on scoring if the wind is not up, but if the wind is blowing it's a tough test. I'm sure we'll see some wind. We are in Scotland after all."
