Match day 19: Eric Gawu on target, Hearts go top

The Former Hearts of Oak and King Faisal marksman hit the headlines in the weekend as his lone goal snatched victory for Dream FC at Dansoman in a weekend that Hearts of Oak also staged a sensation display to hand Hasaacas their second home defeat of the season.

Hearts of Oak and Dreams FC were the teams of the week as they secured away league victories on match day 19. It was Liberty Professionals second home league defeat of the season: The first was against Aduana Stars. For Dreams FC, it was their third away league win. They had earlier defeated the two Adansi teams, namely AshGold and New Edubiase United at Obuasi.

Whereas, Hasaacas suffered their second home defeat of the season when Hearts of Oak piped them 0-1 at Essipong Sports Stadium. Their first defeat had come on match day 9 against Liberty Professionals.

Asante Kotoko couldn’t avenge their FA Cup elimination by Bechem United, as they drew goalless to blow away an opportunity to occupy the top spot of the league.

Wa All Stars surrendered their lead, after several weeks of reign in the league, after they suffered a 2-1 defeat at Sogakope against West African Football Academy (WAFA).

League champions, AshGold who had been struggling all season long, finally earned their first back to back wins at the Len Clay Sports Stadium, Obuasi to stay a bit safer in the league. Ironically the wins have started coming, after their head coach Bashir Hayford, sought permission to pursue coaching course, but his assistant coach Mamba is turning around the fortunes of the team.

Former Hearts of Oak striker, Eric Gawu seems to have revived his career, after returning from abroad to join Dreams FC, as he scored a spectacular goal against Liberty Professionals at Dansoman. His goal against Liberty Professionals was his third of the season.
