Signed from Swansea for £20m, André Ayew’s time at West Ham hasn’t exactly been the revelation many expected it to be.

Hindered by a hamstring injury sustained on the opening day of the season against Chelsea, the 27-year-old didn’t really get going until December, at which point there was the Africa Cup of Nations to think about.

It’s only since his return from the international competition that the Ghanaian forward really made his presence felt, scoring four goals and assisting twice in 12 appearances.

Undoubtedly wanting to further his time in the Premier League next season, an exit in the summer seems unlikely, even if it isn’t all that impossible.

If someone were to, for example, offer the Hammers enough money for them to recoup their original expenditure, it could be something to consider.

One club who might be interested, and who could potentially cause more problems to West Ham, is Marseille, who already caused a ruckus in January by spending £30m on Dimitri Payet.

This potential return to his former club isn’t something Ayew himself has spoken about, but his father, the famous Abedi Pelé, in an interview with Le Parisien on Friday.

It’s certainly something to think about in the near future since, at 27, Ayew could want to return to his old club if they do return to their former glories before he gets too old.

West Ham might have something to say about this, though.
