Asamoah Gyan's Shanghai SIPG sign Brazil international

Chinese Super League club Shanghai SIPG have signed Brazilian player Hulk.

The deal for Hulk is a new transfer record with Shanghai SIPG having paid €55 million for the Brazil international. The Chinese Super League club will pay an additional €2 million should the play score more than 15 goals in his opening season.

A statement from Shanghai SIPG read:

“Hulk has undergone medical examination and the club has just signed the contract with him.”

Shanghai SIPG are currently fourth in their league, 12 points behind the Chinese Super League leaders Guangzhou Evergrande.

The new transfer deal for Hulk will put the future of Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan at Shanghai SIPG in the balance. The Ghanaian player joined the club in China over a year ago from Arabian Gulf League club Al Ain where he won the golden boot consecutively for fun.

The player has however struggled with injuries at Shanghai SIPG with reports suggesting his future in China with Shanghai SIPG is not safe.

The signing of Brazil international Hulk has however strengthened the rumours that Asamoah Gyan could be on his way out of the China club.

Gyan will however not be short of options should he have to move on with his football career. The Black Stars captain has recently been linked with a move to English Premier League side Chelsea.
