Stephen Appiah's son wins MVP award

Rodney, son of the legendary Black Stars skipper Stephen Appiah was adjudged the best player in the just private schools football tournament in Accra.

Rodney, a student of British International entertained sports fans who were at the Lizzy Complex with his skills and accurate passes and helped his side to a third-place finish.

The one-day event brought together 14 international schools in Accra to do battle for the ultimate prize.

Grace International won the gala competition to take home the trophy which was at stake.

Rodney and his teammates are expected to embark on a training tour in Lome, Togo to play BIS Lomé and other schools.

It is still early days yet for one to conclude that Rodney will emulate the football greatness of his father, but he has shown glipses.

Stephen Appiah as a youngster in 1996 was named the FA Cup Most Valuable Player when he helped Hearts of Oak win the title.

He would later captain Ghana to qualify for their first two FIFA World Cups in 2006 and 2010.
