GFA boss hails PFAG insurance initiative

Kwesi Nyantakyi lauds the implementation of 'Life After Football and Insurance Scheme'

The idea dubbed 'Life After Football and Insurance Scheme' was born in 2009, came to see the day light on Monday (March 21, 2016) when the it was launched at the Alisa Hotel in Accra.

"This is a very laudable initiative that is worthy of the support of all of us. And I can confirm to you that after extensive discussion with the Executive Committee of the Ghana Football Association, we whole heartedly support and approve of this project," Nyantakyi said during the launch.

“We know how useful and beneficial it will be for our players. We know it is something that has prevail in advance football countries.

“This initiative will go a long way to provide security and confidence amongst players during our league competitions. It will also secure their future even after their playing career,” he said.

The 'Life After Football and Insurance Scheme' initiative will be experimented for two years, and Nyantakyi has called on the brainers behind the idea to ensure it is not flash on the pan.

He wants the association to explore the various avenues available so that first division, women's and Colts football can also benefit.

“We are encouraging PFAG to explore avenues together with GFA; we can continue to pay premium for this insurance scheme so it will take care of not only premier division players but players in the first division, women’s league and Colts as well.”
