Azumah Nelson anoints Isaac Dogboe to be world champ

The greatest boxer to come out of Ghana and Africa believes the 21 year old has all it takes to step into his legendary footsteps

Isaac 'Royal Storm' Dogboe is destined to be a world boxing champion, the legendary Azumah Nelson believes.

Dogboe was at his devastating best on the night of December 26, 2015 demolishing George Krampah in 8 rounds to win the WBO Africa and WBA Pan Africa Featherweight titles at the Accra Sports Stadium.

In the full glare of the bigwigs of Ghana boxing, Dogboe floored his opponent in the very first round, sent him to the canvas again in round 5 before Krampah's corner decided they had suffered enough and failed to answer the bell for round 8.

So dominant was Dogboe who was fighting in Ghana for the 5th time that he impressed none other than former 3-time world champion and without debate the greatest boxer to come out of the African continent himself, Azumah Nelson.

"This is the second time I'm watching Isaac Dogboe and I can tell you he is very good, I have no doubt that he is surely going to be a world champion," Azumah said at ringside after helping decorate the new WBO and WBA champion.

"I think he is on the right path, attacks his opponents and is not afraid to take a punch. He has all the qualities necessary to be a champion and the good part is that he is very young and can only improve and get better," the international boxing hall of famer reiterated.

Meanwhile, Dogboe's father and trainer, is adding salt to the wounds of the defeated Krampah by declaring he could have suffered more damage had he not given up when he did.

"He was complaining of headache but his corner was pushing him to fight on, he made a good decision because he would have stopped boxing or have a permanent injury," Paul Dogboe told Pulse Ghana Sports.
