Ghana striker rescues point for Lorient

Majeed Waris salvaged Lorient a point but they remain without an away win in Ligue 1 this season after a 2-2 draw at Angers.

Ghanaian international forward Majeed Waris scored his third goal in as many Ligue 1 games to equalise in Lorient's 2-2 draw at Angers.

A spectacular match saw Lorient extend their unbeaten run to three matches, while Waris' equaliser meant Angers have won only two of their last ten in the league. There were 12 shots on target in the 90 minutes and a draw was a fair result.

Lorient struck against the run of play through former Newcastle striker Marveaux in the 23rd minute as he took a pass from Waris on the edge of the area and fired home into the bottom corner.

Angers hit back to level three minutes later. Vincent Le Goff was booked for his challenge on Ndoye in the area and Diedhiou made no mistake with the resulting penalty.

The home side went ahead in the 58th minute when Ndoye headed home Karl Toko Ekambi's cross but Waris levelled for Lorient with a low shot from a tight angle eight minutes later.
