Ex-Black Stars midfielder starts punditry on Saudi TV

The former Ghana international has started work as a pundit on a Saudi Arabian TV station

MBC, a Saudi Arabian TV station put up a makeshift studio in London, where Essien and other pundits analysed the game.

In the game itself, Al Hilal defeated Al Ahli to emerge the 2016 Champions of the Saudi Arabian Super Cup in a game that ended 4-3 on penalties after the regulation time had ended 1-1.

Michael Essien played for Olympique Lyon in the French Ligue 1 before he landed a move to Chelsea that made him the most expensive player on the African continent in 2005. He has also has had stints with Real Madrid Madrid and AC Milan. The last club he featured for was Panathinaikos but was released before the start of this season due to recurring injuries.

Essien was part of the Black Sars team that played in the 2006 and 2014 FIFA World Cups in Germany and Brazil respectively.
