"PSG deserved to beat Chelsea"

Essien had no option but to congratulate PSG who eliminated his former side Chelsea from the UEFA Champions League.

Michael Essien accepted that Paris Saint-Germain deserved to beat Chelsea in Wednesday's 2-1 Champions League win.

Chelsea's Champions League hopes were ended by the French champions at the last-16 stage once more as Zlatan Ibrahimovic inspired the French champions to victory at Stamford Bridge.

Essien had no option but to congratulate PSG who eliminated his former side Chelsea from the UEFA Champions League.

Victory took Laurent Blanc’s PSG into the quarterfinals for the fourth year in a row, while Chelsea were left to contemplate a first season without Champions League football since 2002-03.
