London Broncos' hopes of securing a return to Super League were ended on Sunday as Salford Red Devils secured their place in the 'Million Pound Game' against Hull KR.

Salford avoided an upset against Batley Bulldogs, triumphing 42-14 to hold on to fifth place in the Qualifiers at the Broncos' expense.

The Red Devils and Hull KR will now meet next weekend, with the final place in next year's top flight up for grabs. Relegation to the Championship awaits the loser.

Gareth O'Brien and Weller Hauraki each claimed two tries on Sunday for Salford, whose director of rugby Tim Sheens will stand down from his role having agreed to coach Hull KR from next season.

The Broncos thrashed Featherstone Rovers 46-6, but that result was not enough for the capital club due to Salford's victory.

In the final Super 8s fixture, Castleford Tigers leapfrogged Catalans Dragons into fifth place with a 40-26 victory over Widnes Vikings. Denny Solomona claimed a hat-trick to finish the season with a remarkable 40 Super League tries.
