After capitulating to defeat in the fourth round of the French Open, Agnieszka Radwanska was left fuming at being made to play in the rain.

Monday's action at Roland Garros had been completely washed out by adverse weather, before second seed Radwanska resumed her clash with Tsvetana Pironkova on Tuesday in a strong position, 6-2 3-0 to the good.

Following a delayed start, play got under way with drizzle still falling, as organisers attempted to make up for the time lost.

And world number 102 Pironkova appeared to thrive in the difficult conditions, winning the first 10 games on her way to sealing a 2-6 6-3 6-3 success and earning a quarter-final with Samantha Stosur.

Radwanska, meanwhile, was left cursing the weather as she struggled with a right wrist problem that required treatment midway through the final set.

"I'm just so surprised and angry that we have to play in the rain," she said. "I mean, it's a grand slam. How can you allow players to play in the rain? I cannot play in those conditions.

"Also in the morning, the second set it was... we play pretty much in the rain. I don't know who allows us to play in that kind of conditions.

"I don't think they really care what we think. I think they care about other things.

"I'm just p****d. I just cannot play in those conditions. I'm not healthy enough.

"I had hand surgery a few years ago, and for me, playing with those balls in that kind of court is pretty much impossible.

"So, I mean, I tried. Maybe I played worse, but it definitely shouldn't be like this.

"We shouldn't play in that kind of rain. Why? We still have a couple of days of tournament. What's the point?"
