The Basketball Without Borders programme is aimed at bringing young players from the age of 18 under one location.

These youngsters have coaches from the NBA and other international federations take turns in mentoring them.  This included giving them guidance in leadership and teaching them basic skills as they move on.

Quashie’s coach at Don Bosco, Mr. Sarpong spoke to the media as to how the power forward's development has gone, saying: “He started from the Junior Team where he could merely bounce a basketball to developing as a good post player and has now added three point shooting to his game”

A journalist for basketballghana.com, Yaw Adjei-Mintah, also gave his thoughts on the importance of Quashie’s appearance to Ghana basketball.

“It is a great feeling to know that the nation was represented in Africa on such a grand scale. Players like Cameroonian Luc Richard Mbah a Moute of Houston Rocketsand and his fellow country man Joel Embiid of Philadelphia 76ers are players who came through this programme. Another example you could also cite is Senegalese center Gorgui Dieng who plays for the Minnesota Tmberwolves," he reckoned.

He went on to state that these are indicators that having Kitson Jojo Quashie at the Basketball without Borders programme is a step closer to seeing another Ghanaian player in the NBA.

“Hopefully he would make a greater impact than the representation we had in former Boston Celtics and Dallas Mavericks power forward Ben Bentil,” Adjei-Mintah concluded
