Kris Bryant was the standout as the Chicago Cubs edged past the Cincinnati Reds in MLB on Monday.

Bryant went five-for-five, becoming the first player in modern MLB history to hit three homers and two doubles in a game as the Cubs claimed an 11-8 victory.

The Tampa Bay Rays ended their 11-game losing run, a strong start helping them past the Boston Red Sox 13-7.

Troy Tulowitzki returned to Colorado, but his Toronto Blue Jays went down to the Rockies 9-5.

The Washington Nationals rallied past the New York Mets 11-4 and the Los Angeles Dodgers overcame the Pittsburgh Pirates 5-4.

The Oakland Athletics had an 8-3 win over the San Francisco Giants and the Philadelphia Phillies shut out the Arizona Diamondbacks 8-0.

The Kansas City Royals claimed a 6-2 win over the St Louis Cardinals and the Cleveland Indians were 8-3 victors against the Atlanta Braves.

Elsewhere, the Houston Astros beat the Los Angeles Angels 4-2, while the Texas Rangers completed a 9-6 triumph against the New York Yankees following a lengthy rain delay. VOTTO ALSO IMPRESSES

Across the dugout from Bryant, Reds veteran Joey Votto also filled up the stat sheet by going two-for-four with two homers, three RBIs, three runs scored, a walk and a stolen base. TULO WELCOMED BACK

Tulowitzki receives a warm ovation from the Coors Field crowd in his first at-bat since being traded to the Blue Jays in 2015.

TROUT GOES DEEP AGAIN

Mike Trout has homered in three straight games, which ties his career-long streak (September 16-18, 2013).

The Indians earned their 10th consecutive win, the longest streak in MLB this season. The club have not lost at home in the month of June. HAMELS, SABATHIA CLASH

The only pitching match-up on Tuesday between starters with an ERA of under three is between two former All-Star left-handers. Cole Hamels (8-1, 2.79 ERA) has allowed just 12 hits and two earned runs over his past three Rangers starts combined while CC Sabathia (5-4, 2.71 ERA) is coming off five earned runs in just 4.1 innings against the Rockies.
