Even though the States does not offer as high a level of competition as Europe, it has managed to attract the aforementioned Black Stars players as well as football stars Andrea Pirlo, Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard in recent years.

Heading to America could be a favourable option for Atsu and his family.

JOIN ASAMOAH GYAN IN CHINA?

Asamoah Gyan joined Shanghai SIPG in July last year, becoming one of the highest paid players in World. The Chinese side again spent £48m to bring Brazilian star Hulk over from Zenit St Petersburg in June this year, with reported wages of £320,000-a-week.

A figure of fun at Arsenal during his time there, Gervinho nonetheless now commands huge wages at Chinese club Hebei Fortune.

This means that there will no doubt be a number of teams prepared to spend big money for the 2015 AFCON best player.

DOWN UNDER TO A-LEAGUE?

The Ghanaian could also take his trade to Australia with teams such as Brisbane Roar and Melbourne Victory.

The level of competition in Australia is at a much better standard than China.

Bringing someone like Atsu to Australia would not be a bad move for A-League as a whole, and could be a catalyst to more Ghanaian or African players making the move out there.

BECOME A MIDDLE EAST STAR?

The Qatar Stars League has been relatively unheard of in world football until recently but an injection of cash from wealthy owners is leading to bigger-name stars being attracted out to the Middle East.

Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan was a hero at United Arab Emirates side Al Ain. Ex Barcelona midfielder Xavi currently plays his football for Al Sadd, and they could be one of the clubs able to lure Atsu to Qatar.

STAY AT CHELSEA

Staying put would probably be the boldest decision he could make. He has every right to stay and fight for a place. A terrible bout of injuries and who knows, Conte may be tempted to look his way for the FA Cup and Carling Cup games. There’s still plenty Atsu can offer on the pitch.

In many ways, that could be one of Atsu’s finest accomplishments – to be defiant and prove his worth.
