Manu Tuilagi and Owen Farrell have been included in the England squad to tour Australia despite picking up injuries during Saturday's Premiership semi-final between Saracens and Leicester Tigers.

Tigers centre Tuilagi appeared to sustain a hamstring problem at Allianz Park, while Saracens fly-half Farrell suffered a blow to the ribs and both men were forced from the field.

Their progress will be closely monitored by England coach Eddie Jones who named four uncapped players in the squad that will play three Tests against last year's Rugby World Cup finalists.

Worcester Warriors centre Ben Te'o, Northampton Saints loose-forward Teimana Harrison and props Ellis Genge (Leicester) and Kyle Sinckler (Harlequins) have all been included in the 32-man touring party, with the first Test set to take place in Brisbane on June 11th.

There is no place, however, for either wing Chris Ashton or fly-half Danny Cipriani.

Ashton was named in Jones' squad for the Six Nations earlier this year, but ultimately missed the entire tournament through suspension, while Wasps-bound Cipriani has not featured for England since August of last year.

Jones is expecting Australia to provide a stern test on home soil, but is confident that his charges can build upon their recent Six Nations success.

"We're ranked fourth in the world, are still developing our identity and we have a long way to go to get to where we ultimately want to be," he said.

"This tour will provide a good chance for us to measure up to the southern hemisphere and try to close that gap.

"Australia are the second-ranked team in world and their coach is the World Rugby coach of the year, so their supporters will expect a positive result from them.

"We will upset the apple cart."
