Robin Haase has reacted with shock after his coach Mark de Jong was reportedly arrested at Amsterdam's Schiphol airport.

Reports in the Netherlands said De Jong was detained by police on Thursday in relation to the murder of Dutch businessman Koen Everink on March 4.

Haase and De Jong had arrived into the airport following the world number 59's withdrawal from the Miami Open with a knee injury.

"I left the plane before him because I was flying business class," Haase told NU.nl.

"He [De Jong] apparently got arrested behind me. That's what police officers told me later on.

"It's not like we are holding hands, so there is nothing strange about it that I was not there when he actually got arrested.

"I did not have any suspicions at all. I was as surprised as anyone else when I heard about it. That's all I know about it. I am absolutely shocked."
