The injury bug struck the first-place Cleveland Indians yet again when ace Carlos Carrasco was ruled out for the rest of the season with a non-displaced fracture of fifth metacarpal.

Carrasco suffered the injury in Saturday's game with the Detroit Lions after being struck on the hand on the second pitch of the game.

A 95mph fastball was smacked back at Carrasco by Ian Kinsler, with the ball appearing to strike him on his right pitching hand.

The ball ricocheted off Carrasco and towards third base, allowing Kinsler to reach first base on an infield single. Cleveland went on to win 1-0.

The Indians have lost outfielder Michael Brantley and catcher Yan Gomes (both shoulder) and potentially starting pitcher Danny Salazar (forearm) this season due to injury.
