Orioles, Indians keep winning in MLB

The Baltimore Orioles and Cleveland Indians continued their winning runs in MLB on Sunday.

Chris Davis blasted a grand slam as the Orioles made it five straight with a 12-5 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays.

The Indians just keep rolling and they secured a ninth consecutive win by beating the Detroit Tigers 9-3.

They hit four homers in the fifth inning against Justin Verlander on their way to yet another win.

There were walk-off wins for the San Francisco Giants, Los Angeles Angels and Colorado Rockies.

The Giants (8-7 over the Philadelphia Phillies), the Rockies (9-7 against the Arizona Diamondbacks) and the Angels (7-6 at home to the Oakland Athletics) won thrillers.

Chris Sale collected his 13th win as the Chicago White Sox had a 5-2 win over the Toronto Blue Jays and the New York Mets went down to the Atlanta Braves by the same scoreline.

A five-run seventh saw the Kansas City Royals past the Houston Astros 6-1 and the Washington Nationals edged the Milwaukee Brewers 3-2.

The Cincinnati Reds shut out the San Diego Padres 3-0, the Miami Marlins beat the Chicago Cubs 6-1 and the Minnesota Twins were 7-1 winners over the New York Yankees.

The St Louis Cardinals were too good for the Seattle Mariners 11-6, the Texas Rangers overcame the Boston Red Sox 6-2 and the Pittsburgh Pirates beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 4-3.

DESCLAFANI DOMINATES

The Reds have had all kinds of problems with their rotation this season, but Anthony DeSclafani is back and pitching lights out. Sunday, he tossed eight scoreless innings with five strikeouts and no walks against the Padres. DeSclafani is now 2-0 with a 1.52 ERA this season. VERLANDER PUMMELED

After punching out 13 batters in seven innings of one-run ball against the Cubs, Jose Fernandez now has six outings with 13-plus strikeouts in his short career. No one else in Marlins history has more than three. There are only seven combined that are not from Fernandez. METS VISIT NATIONALS

Noah Syndergaard (8-2, 2.08) will make the start for the Mets despite battling elbow soreness last week. He has been on a roll this season. Washington will have Joe Ross (6-4, 3.11), who has enjoyed a breakout campaign himself, on the mound on Monday to help the Nationals stay in front in the National League (NL) East.
