Ben Duckett is determined to grab his England chance with both hands after being named in the Test and one-day squads to tour Bangladesh.

After being narrowly overlooked for a place in previous limited-overs squads against Pakistan, the 21-year-old was thrilled to have been selected for next month's trip.

Duckett has come to prominence for Northamptonshire this season with 1338 runs in the County Championship at an average of 60.81, and a highest score of 282 not out.

With some of England's regulars opting out of the tour on security grounds the opportunity is there for Duckett to stake his claim.

"It hasn't really hit home yet," he told Sky Sports News. "It was a little bit of a surprise.

"It was going to be tough to break into the side but a couple dropping out of the Bangladesh tour has given me a chance. I'm over the moon to be selected.

"I've got the chance but to stay in the side and in the squad I'm going to have to perform. I'm just going to take the confidence that I have from this summer, play the way that I play to try to do that.

"Bangladesh on their home soil are going to be tough to beat. I do like to think playing spin is one of the strongest parts of my game so I just need to take as much confidence as I can and no matter who the spinner is bowling at me, just play my natural game."

England's tour begins with the first of three ODIs in Mirpur on October 7, before the Test series gets underway 13 days later.
