Sale Sharks held off Leicester Tigers to eke out victory in a thrilling Premiership clash that finished 34-30 at the AJ Bell Stadium on Saturday.

Leicester responded well to Mike Phillips' opening try, with Peter Betham touching down twice as the visitors moved into a 14-7 lead.

However, former Tiger Paolo Odogwu and Johnny Leota got Sale back on track before the interval, with Halani Aulika sealing the bonus point midway through the second half.

Aulika was subsequently sin-binned, with Adam Thompstone crossing to bring Leicester within a point with the help of Owen Williams' conversion.

But Will Addison's late penalty wrapped up the win for the home side, who claimed their second win of the season.

Gloucester's home struggles continued as a 15-6 defeat to Bath left them without a win at Kingsholm this season.

James Hook scored the only points of the first half from the tee, before George Ford pulled the visitors level with a drop goal early in the second.

Anthony Watson's try represented the first major breakthrough of the match, and Matt Banahan's late touchdown made sure of a win that pulls Bath level on points with early pacesetters Wasps, who play on Sunday.
