Oliver Gildart and Josh Charnley crossed for tries as the Warriors overcame the Warrington Wolves 12-6 in Saturday's decider.

Wane, who played for the club and has been in charge as coach since 2011, talked up the significance of their triumph after a season blighted by injuries.

"I don't tell lies. I've been here for 30 years as a player and a coach I can't remember a better win than that," he said.

"People don't know the half of it. The lads know what has gone on with injuries and without a doubt it's the best win we've ever had.

"I could go into loads of detail about people not training on a daily basis.

"People have been running for the first time on game day on occasions. We had no right to win that game."

The Warriors had to come from behind after a first-half converted try from Declan Patton.

Gildart crossed in the 55th minute and Charnley soon after to see them to their victory.
