Saudi Arabian powerlifter Mashal Alkhazai has been suspended for eight years by the International Paralympic Committee after the second doping violation of his career.

Alkhazai tested positive for banned substance metenolone in an out-of-competition test conducted in Rio ahead of the Paralympic Games.

The Saudi Arabian, who was due to compete in the men's over 107 kilograms powerlifting event on Wednesday, has consequently had his accreditation withdrawn.

Alkhazai, 36, is now ineligible for competition until September 12, 2024.
