Penguins crush Capitals, Wild down Blackhawks

The Pittsburgh Penguins prevented the Washington Capitals from securing the NHL Metropolitan Division after a crushing 6-2 win on Sunday.

The Penguins scored four unanswered goals after the Capitals tied the game at 2-2 in the second period for their sixth straight win.??

Bryan Rust and Trevor Daley had the Penguins 2-0 ahead after the first period but Jason Chimera scored with his head before a goal to Andre??Burakovsky pulled the Capitals back in the second.??

However, Tom??Kuhnhackl restored the Penguins' lead 40 seconds later, before Matt??Cullen, Chris Kunitz and Justin Schultz capped off the big win.

The Chicago Blackhawks suffered a sixth loss out of their last seven games after going down to the Minnesota Wild 3-2 in a shoot-out.??

Nino??Niederreiter set up Erik??Haula for the Wild's first before he doubled their advantage seven minutes into the second period.

The Blackhawks managed to get back into the game via Andrew Shaw a minute later, and Richard Panik tied the game at 2-2.

No one could find the net in the third period and the resulting overtime, with Charlie Coyle scoring the winner in the shoot-out for the Wild.??

The Anaheim Ducks kept their hopes of a Pacific Division title alive thanks to a 3-2 win in overtime against the lowly Winnipeg Jets.??

Meanwhile, the New Jersey Devils defeated the Columbus Blue Jackets 2-1, the Montreal Canadiens lost out to the Calgary Flames 4-1, the Colorado Avalanche edged the Edmonton Oilers 3-2, and the San Jose Sharks trumped the Arizona Coyotes 3-0.
