Englishman Ian Poulter holds a narrow lead at the Puerto Rico Open at the end of round three.

Ian Poulter rocketed into the lead at the Puerto Rico Open on day three after carding a four-under 68.

The Englishman moved up from third at the end of Friday's play, replacing home hope Rafael Campos at the top of the leaderboard after the previous leader went round in par to fall two shots off the pace.

The chase got off to a tremendous start for Poulter, who scored three birdies – including on the first – on the way to a bogey-free front nine.

A single blemish on the back nine was the only blip on a fine round, as further gains followed on holes 15 and 16.

In the end, Campos did well just to make par having hit three bogeys and one double on the outward nine as his day got off to an abysmal start, with birdies on the 12th and 16th bringing him to nine under overall.

American trio Tony Finau, Jonathan Byrd and Steve Marino all sit one shot back from Poulter.
