Favre pulling for Manning victory in Super Bowl 50

Brett Favre is backing Peyton Manning to win his second Super Bowl title when the Denver Broncos face the Carolina Panthers.

Despite a wretched individual season, Brett Favre is backing Peyton Manning to win his second Super Bowl title when the Denver Broncos face the Carolina Panthers at Levi's Stadium.

Manning has endured a torrid campaign in which he has found it difficult to move the Broncos' offense, struggled with injury and had to watch from the sidelines for six games and much of the regular-season finale while Brock Osweiler took his place.

Yet, for all his issues with his declining physical skills and poor decision making, Manning is just four quarters away from lifting the Lombardi Trophy for the second time after leaning on his defense in wins over the Pittsburgh Steelers and New England Patriots.

He will take on a seemingly unstoppable Panthers team that lost just one game in the regular season and had little problem in seeing off the Seattle Seahawks and Arizona Cardinals to win the NFC title.

Manning was heard to have told Patriots coach Bill Belichick it could be his 'last rodeo' in the aftermath of the defeat of New England.

And Favre, who won Super Bowl XXXI with the Green Bay Packers in 1997 and saw his all-time passing yards mark beaten by Manning earlier this season, has faith in the 39-year-old to finish his storied career on the ultimate high.

"I've got to pull for my old man Peyton Manning," Favre said. "I hope they pull it off. I know it will be tough; Carolina is a younger, probably faster and more physical team, but I would never bet against Peyton.

"There's a lot of memories with Peyton, and I go way back with Peyton and actually the Manning family. Archie was my hero growing up so I hold the Manning family very dear.

"So this is just a great opportunity for him to go out the way he wants to, and what better way to do it; and either way, I will say this, it's been a wonderful career for him and to be back to this position is just amazing.

"His legacy is outstanding. If not the best , he is one of the best to play the game."
