Mira Potkonen was a shock winner over Katie Taylor in the quarter-finals of the women's light (57-60kg) boxing.

The 35-year-old from Finland edged the defending champion in a tight fight, with a judge who had the bout tied having to decide.

He opted for Potkonen, who said: "It was awesome. I have lost so many times to her, so it’s great."

MEDAL WATCH

Brazil won their second gold of their home games thanks to Da Silva. Ruth Jebet won Bahrain's first ever – with victory in the women's 3000m steeplechase. The United States are still well clear at the top with 26 golds and 75 medals in total.

COMING UP – Bolt back, Dibaba eyes gold

A busy day at the Games will see 25 gold medals awarded, with five of those coming in athletics. Genzebe Dibaba is expected to be among them with the women's 1500m final to be run, while Usain Bolt is back in action – in the 200m heats.

AND FINALLY...

Another day at Rio, another proposal.

Equestrian rider Charlotte Dujardin confirmed she would marry Dean Golding, who proposed once more.

"He actually asked me just before London, and I said yes," she said.

"But I do not think he has believed it is going to happen, so now he has gone and made it so public that I definitely have got to do it."
