Royals rally in seven-run ninth inning, Blue Jays in walk off

World Series champions the Kansas City Royals completed an improbable comeback to upstage the Chicago White Sox 8-7 in MLB on Saturday.

Trailing 7-1 with one out at the bottom of the ninth inning, the Royals produced a seven-run rally for a dramatic walk-off win.

It was just as enthralling in Toronto as the Blue Jays posted a 10-9 walk-off win over the Boston Red Sox.

Devon Travis was the hero, hitting a walk-off single in the ninth inning after the Blue Jays came from 8-4 down in the eighth.

Buster Posey's two home runs helped the San Francisco Giants past the Colorado Rockies 10-5, the Chicago Cubs accounted for the Philadelphia Phillies 4-1 and the Los Angeles Dodgers crushed the New York Mets 9-1.

The St Louis Cardinals used a four-run second inning to see off the Washington Nationals 9-4, the New York Yankees fell 9-5 to the Tampa Bay Rays, the Oakland Athletics trounced the Detroit Tigers 12-3, the Texas Rangers defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates 5-2 in Yu Darvish's first game since Tommy John surgery and the Cleveland Indians trumped the Baltimore Orioles 11-4.

Elsewhere, the Atlanta Braves beat the Miami Marlins 7-2, the Milwaukee Brewers went down 7-6 to the Cincinnati Reds, the Houston Astros were too good for the Los Angeles Angels 4-2, the Arizona Diamondbacks edged the San Diego Padres 8-7, while the Minnesota Twins prevailed 6-5 against the Seattle Mariners. Kyle Hendricks may be the Cubs' fifth starter, but he pitched like an ace while beating the Phillies. Hendricks gave up just one run on five hits in a complete game. He also struck out seven batters and improved to 3-4 with a 2.93 ERA on the season.

NEVER QUIT, JUST ASK THE ROYALS

Royals third baseman Cheslor Cuthbert got the Royals' seven-run rally started in the bottom of the ninth with a one-out single. Brett Eibner added a double and six runs later, he was back up in the same inning to do the unthinkable and guide the Royals to consecutive victories.

ORTIZ PROVING AGE IS JUST A NUMBER

At 40 years of age, there is not long left in David Ortiz's career but the Red Sox slugger is still going strong, hitting his 516th career home run. He is now five behind Willie McCovey, Frank Thomas and Ted Williams for 19th all time.

With his home run in the fourth inning, Yankees outfielder Carlos Beltran became just the fourth player born in Puerto Rico to reach 2,500 career hits (Roberto Clemente, Ivan Rodriguez, Roberto Alomar). BLUE JAYS OUT TO EXTEND STREAK

Riding a four-game winning streak, the Blue Jays lock horns with the Red Sox on Sunday. David Price (7-1, 5.34 ERA) is on the mound for Boston and facing off against R.A. Dickey (2-6, 4.60 ERA).
