Leeds Rhinos' stuttering Super League campaign continued at the Jungle on Thursday as Jake Webster's late second-half try gave local rivals Castleford Tigers an 18-14 victory.

Castleford bounced back from their mauling at the hands of Warrington Wolves last week to record a first win over Leeds at home since 2013, a result that sees them climb into the top five.

Webster's decisive try came with six minutes to play as the Tigers picked up a hard-earned win that ensures they stay ahead of the defending champions in the table - who remain in the bottom four.

The hosts started well as Andy Lynch and Webster went over after Leeds had been wasteful early on, but the Rhinos came surging back.

Joel Moon began their recovery with a try on his 100th Super League start, before Kallum Watkins and Tom Briscoe both went over, Liam Sutcliffe kicking one of his three conversion attempts.

Leeds' 14-12 lead at half-time remained intact for much of the second period as both sides made errors cost them in the final third – former Rhino Paul McShane denied a try on the hour for a forward pass.

Eventually Castleford's pressure was rewarded, though, as Webster found a gap to score under the posts, Luke Gale kicking the extras to complete a memorable victory.
