Bernard Foley may have missed the opening rounds of Super Rugby but the Australia fly-half is confident he can make an immediate impact for Waratahs.

Foley has yet to play in the 2016 edition of the tournament due to a knee injury and Waratahs have felt his absence having taken just one win from three matches.

That came on the opening weekend against Queensland Reds, and Foley is set to return when the two sides meet again this weekend in Brisbane.

Some players may take time to readjust after injury, but Foley believes his time out of the game can actually help him lift Waratahs to a second win.

"I suppose watching on the sideline you get to see the game a bit differently," said the 26-year-old.

"We've adapted and evolved the game from the last couple of seasons so getting an idea from the sidelines watching, asking questions, has probably allowed me to understand that style of play rather than going straight back in.

"You can't question the hard work, the intent and the energy levels the Waratahs have [shown].

"I think with the leadership and the hard work we've done in this team it's probably setting us up well for the next couple of games."
