Wang, a semi-finalist in the WTA 125K hard-court event last year, started the tournament in her homeland with a 6-4 7-6 (7-4) triumph over the world number 172 from Uzbekistan.

Abduraimova put together a run to the last four in Wuhan back in July and caused problems for Wang, but could only grasp two of 10 break-point opportunities and failed to hold on three occasions.

Zhang Kai-Lin, seeded five, also bowed out on day two of the tournament, retiring due to injury in the deciding set when trailing 6-2 4-6 4-1 to the 2015 runner-up Julia Glushko.
