Tom Coughlin finally admits it's 'time to move on' from Giants

Tom Coughlin was asked to stay with the New York Giants after stepping down as head coach, but that will not happen.

Coughlin said on Wednesday during the Mike and the Mad Dog Reunion Show he will not have a role with the Giants in 2016.

"It's time to move on," a relaxed Coughlin told the hosts before adding he is "transitioning" from the team.

While Coughlin never accepted owner John Mara's offer, he had been around the team facility to offer advice to new Giants coach Ben McAdoo, who was promoted after serving as his offensive coordinator.

"As long as Tom’s around, we’re going to welcome him and use him as a resource," McAdoo said last week at the NFL's annual meetings in Florida.

Coughlin said he knows he can coach and was hoping to land another head coaching job this season.

He was reported to be a candidate to take over the San Francisco 49ers and Philadelphia Eagles.

With those positions filled, it looks like Coughlin, who will be 70 in August, will be out of football in 2016 and maybe beyond.
